Patriot or Traitor?

Regardless of what people think about Edward Snowden, he threw the rock through our glass window of pretending that we were safe from spying in the digital world.  For this, I would have to say that I believe he is a patriot to the American people.  The American government, on the other hand, would call him a traitor.  He did not harm national security.  The Patriot Act was originally passed during the Bush administrative reign.  This was done under the pretense of protecting the American people from terrorists.  Should safety trump liberty and privacy rights?  I say NO!  Edward Snowden is a very intelligent guy and knew that there would be significant personal consequences for leaking this information.  However, he saw a wrong being committed against the American people and he was courageous enough to do something about it.  I believe he is a true patriot.
